Notice Type Firewood Harvest
The Point MacKenzie Alsop North Personal Use Area is open for harvesting mixed sawtimber. It is available on a first come first served basis beginning Friday, February 2, 2018. Live standing spruce saw timber must be greater than 9” diameter at breast height (dbh) and live standing birch saw timber must be greater than 11″ dbh to be harvested during this offering. All dead down and dead standing timber may also be harvested. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from our Personal Use Firewood page or at the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri., at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer.
The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and must be purchased prior to harvesting.
The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2018. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7863 if you have any questions.
