Troopers warn of “Bail Scam”

Police Blotter Public Notices

On 12/30/2018, Alaska State Troopers received a report from Mat Valley residents that a caller identified himself as an Alaska State Trooper Lieutenant with Judicial Services. The male attempted to get the couple to pay him bail money for a fictitious arrest warrant. Other residents have reported a fictitious law enforcement officer reporting a family member had been arrested in another state or country and requesting bail money for their loved one.

These are scam calls. Alaska State Troopers do not solicit or collect money from individuals. During the holiday season fraudulent calls such as these increase and unsuspecting Alaska residents can fall victim to these scams. If you receive a call that is suspicious please contact your local Alaska State Trooper Post to verify it is not a scam.
