Palmer man arrested on Big Lake

Police Blotter

On 7/6/19 at 3:38 p.m., Palmer AWT was conducting a vessel patrol on Big Lake and contacted Joseph Lorenzen, age 38, of Palmer, who was operating a 23-foot North River inboard jet boat.

Investigation revealed Lorenzen had consumed alcohol and, after failing field sobriety tests, Lorenzen was arrested for DUI and also for a $1,000 arrest warrant from Anchorage Police for a previous DUI. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with arraignment scheduled for 7-7-19. Investigation revealed this to be Lorenzen’s fifth DUI and his third within 10 years making the DUI a felony. Palmer AWT subsequently seized the vessel Lorenzen was operating.

The Big Lake patrol was conducted as part of Operation Dry Water, a national campaign that focuses on impaired boating.
