The Big Lake City Debate Followup

Big Lake CityThe 1st Big Lake City debate, held in the Big Lake Recreation Center on Saturday, October 10th, was well-represented by the public with an estimated 200+ people in attendance. Wasilla Mayor Bert Cottle moderated the debate, which lasted about 2 hours. There was no clear winner in the spirited and sometimes passionate exchange between the two sides. Much of the debate focused on taxes, which is the topic of most concern to local residents.

Both sides plan to continue holding meetings that are open to the Public to provide information and answer questions.

Ballots must be postmarked by October 27th to be counted as valid.

We'd like to thank those members of the Public that observed the debate, Mayor Cottle and his crew, The Big Lake Lions Club, the media, volunteers and those from both sides of the debate for all your work and dedication. We expect to make a transcript of the debate available soon.
