Dan Mayfield – Running for the Right Reasons

PoliticsSubmitted by Rep. Dan Mayfield

I am a hard working community leader and fiscal conservative. It has been my honor for nearly 3 years to represent the communities of Settlers Bay, Knik, Big Lake, Point Mackenzie and Hollywood on the Mat-Su Borough Assembly. During my time on the Borough Assembly, I have represented our common goals with an emphasis on the core duties of government to support programs such as Public Safety, Education, Infrastructure and safe Recreational Opportunities. My goal has been to make local government work for citizens so that we can jointly make our Mat-Su Borough the best place to live, work, play and become educated.

Those of you familiar with me, know of my long history of volunteer work on Transportation, Economic Development, Trails and Easements. More importantly, you know of the leadership I has demonstrated on the Assembly in support of Fiscal Responsibility and the core values of government. I have the energy, dedication, work ethic and judgment to be successful in representing our common interests throughout the next three years and bringing forth your concerns in the Assembly.

Hard work, perseverance, and patience will continue to pay off in solutions that benefit us all. My experience on the Assembly facing the challenges of our current economic climate reminds me how critical it is to work together as a team in pursuit of keeping a lid on taxes and making the Matanuska Susitna Borough affordable for our residents.

Please vote Dan Mayfield for Assembly on October 3rd.

I'd like to see a debate between Mr. Mayfield and his opponent, "Mokie" Tews.

It would be most excellent.

Yes, I agree. It would be great to hear why Mr. Tew's is running. Word on the street is that Mr. Tews has beef with the borough because his road contract wasn't renewed. I would like to know how Mr. Tews could handle the borough better than Dan Mayfield, from my research it sound like several of Mr. Tews projects had issues with safety, paying back wages, etc.

Firstly I wanted to say that your wish has come true in a way and there will be a candidate forum at Big lake family Restaurant Sept 25th at 12 pm. It is a moderated forum and I doubt there will be alot of debate but some important questions will be addressed. It will be live streamed over facebook for those who cannot attend via the Big Lake Chamber of commerce site.

Second (in response to second commenter Bill): I will not be able to attend and look forward to watching live. I have a few questions I wish Mr Tew would answer that he seems reluctant to. Mr Tew claimed on his legally binding APOC/POFD form that neither him or his spouse owned or held interest in any businesses but a brief search on the Alaska state website shows that to be blatantly false. This is an issue because voters are blind as to who their potential representative will be financially beholden to and goes counter to his claim stating that he wants to fight "Cronyism". I am also curious as to why Mr Tew claims to be fighting for safer roads when he has 31 cases filed against him on AK courtview (https://records.courts.alaska.gov/eac...P*GxnMAm5A), with the vast majority of those being vehicular violations. Lets also not forget the fact that Mr tew has many questionable business dealings and has been "fired" from bourough contracts. Mr tew and campaign have tried to intimidate me from speaking and questioning by searching for my phone number and address and voter information of which I am very protective. Feel free to read the attached links for more information.
