Public NoticesThe Moose Creek Personal Use Firewood Area for mixed sawtimber is available on a first come first served basis beginning Friday, February 8, 2017. Access to this site is at approximately MP 7.5 of West Petersville Road from the Parks Highway. The site is on the North side of Petersville Road and is only open for winter harvest (provided there is sufficient snow cover to protect vegetation as determined by the MSB/LMD). Please contact the MSB to determine if the snow cover is sufficient prior to entering the area.

A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. Permits may also be obtained at the Trapper Creek Library. Please contact the Trapper Creek Library at 861-7650 or TrapperCreek.Library@matsugov.us if you have any questions regarding their hours of operation. Please be prepared to provide the year, make, model and license number of all motorized vehicle(s) or trailers to be used while harvesting the timber when you go to get your permit.

The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2017. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7869 if you have any questions.
