Personal Use Firewood Area - Parks Hwy MP 104

Public NoticesThe Park Highway MP 104 Personal Use Firewood Harvest Area opened Thursday February 22, 2018. This area is located at approximately Mile Post 104 of the Parks Highway just north of the Talkeetna Spur cut off. Access and removal restrictions will be strictly enforced. This area is designated as personal use only for harvest of MSB forest resources. Only previously cut limbed and stacked timber is available no additional cutting is allowed within the permit area. The timber is stacked alongside the access road and is first come first serve; once all the resources are gone the area will be closed to Personal Use Firewood no refunds will be given. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from our Personal Use Firewood page: (link to or at the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri., at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer.

The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and must be purchased prior to harvesting.

The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2018. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7863 if you have any questions.
