Big Lake Woman Arrested

Police BlotterOn 02/20/2014, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a gas station on Seward Meridian Parkway and the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, in Wasilla, for a report of a woman causing a disturbance. Troopers contacted Victoria LaPorte, age 19, of Big Lake, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure to Appear, original charge of Harassment I. LaPorte was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she remanded on $50 bail.

Houston Woman Arrested

Police BlotterOn 2/20/14 at approximately 2100 hours Alaska State Troopers with the Criminal Suppression Unit arrested Rachel Johnson, 29, of Houston on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Johnson was contacted at a residence on King Arthur Dr. in Houston during an ongoing burglary and theft investigation. Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial facility where she was held on $500 bail.

Vehicle Theft in Meadow Lakes

Police BlotterOn 2/18/14 at 6:29 a.m., AST received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Meadow Lakes area. It was reported that a 2001 Dodge Dakota was stolen from the victim's residence. The vehicle is gray in color and has an Alaska license plate with EAR113. If anyone has information about the vehicle it is encouraged that they contact the Alaska State Troopers at 352-5201.

Troopers seek information in burglary

Police BlotterOn 02/18/14 at 8:00 a.m., Alaska State Troopers responded a neighborhood off Pittman Road in Wasilla for report of someone having gone through several unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood. After Troopers arrived on scene, they made contact with a victim, who reported that his green 2009 Chevy Aveo had been stolen from his driveway during the night. The 2009 Chevy Aveo was later recovered nearby on W. Peninsula Dr and N. Tote St in Wasilla and was released to the owner. Further investigation revealed someone had entered a garage at a residence located nearby and stole approximately 15 firearms, along with other miscellaneous items. Anyone with information should contact the Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131. Investigation is continuing.

Houston Woman Arrested

Police BlotterOn 2/20/14 Troopers responded to a residence off of Wonderland Dr. for a report of a family disturbance. Investigation revealed, Gina Jones age 33 of Houston, had assaulted a family member. Jones was arrested for Assault in the 4th degree a crime of domestic violence. Jones was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility on no bail.

Police BlotterOn 02/16/2014, Mat-Su West Wildlife Troopers cited Tiffany Andersen, age 25, of JBER, for sport fishing without a valid sport fishing license. Bail was set at $210.00 in the Palmer District Court.

Use of Bait on Big Lake

Police BlotterOn 02/15/2014, Mat-Su West Wildlife Troopers contacted Ryan Hatt, age 21, of Soldotna and Norman Holt, age 22 of Kenai while sport fishing on Big Lake. Investigation revealed both Hatt and Holt were using bait while attempting to catch burbot. Hatt and Holt were both issued citations with bail set at $110.00 a piece in the Palmer District Court

Motor Vehicle Collision-Damage Only

Police BlotterOn 02/16/2014, Mat-Su West Wildlife Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision on West Lakes Boulevard in Big Lake. Investigation revealed a blue 2008 Honda CRV operated by Sandra Baker, age 49, of Big Lake, lost control on the ice around a corner and struck a red 2005 Mitsubishi Montero, which was operated by Randall Hahn, age 47, of Anchorage. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.
