Big Lake Woman Arrested

Police BlotterOn 5/2/2014 at approximately 10 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on S Ronnie Court in Big Lake for a reported family quarrel after the fact. During the investigation, Troopers contacted 30 year old Stacey L. Moore of Big Lake who had one outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $1000 for failure to appear at a pretrial conference hearing on the original charge of driving without insurance. Moore was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where she was held on the warrant bail.

DWLR/Making a False Report

Police BlotterUpdated Press Release:

On 05/01/14 approximately 8 p.m., State Troopers with South Central BHP contacted an individual after a traffic stop near MP 12.5 Knik-Goose Bay Rd. The individual, who identified himself only verbally, was unable to produce any identification, claimed to be from Oregon, and stated that he had no valid driver license. Attempts to positively identify the individual were unsuccessful. The individual was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded on the charge of NVOL, with bail conditions including not to be released until positively identified.

On 05/02/14, the individual was positively identified using fingerprints, as Joshua Leroy Ellis, age 32, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Ellis' Alaska driver license was revoked for a DUI, and that he had an outstanding Alaska no bail arrest warrant for failing to comply with conditions of his conviction for DUI. Ellis was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on the warrant, and the charges of DWLR and Making a False Report.

MICS 6, DWLR

Police BlotterOn 04/26/14 at approximately 7 p.m., Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a blue Dodge Ram on Big Lake Road near Hollywood Road for a moving violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Lanny Barrett, age 20, of Wasilla was operating the vehicle on a revoked driver's license from a prior DUI. Further investigation revealed Barrett possessed marijuana. Barrett was issued two criminal citations to appear in court for MICS 6 and DWLR. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver

Troopers seek information in Willow burglary

Police BlotterOn 04/30/14 at 8:20 a.m., Delbert Vannatta, age 63 of Willow contacted AST Dispatch after he found three rifles while walking near the corner of Grunstake Road and Buillion Ave. Investigation revealed the rifles had been taken from a near-by residence after unknown person(s) forced open the garage door. The owner was contacted who stated he had two other rifles in the garage. A search of the local area resulted in neither being located at this time. Investigation is continuing and anyone with information is
encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers.

Two Troopers Killed in the Line of Duty

Police BlotterTwo Alaska State Troopers were killed in Tanana today, May 1, while conducting an investigation. The Troopers responded to Tanana to follow-up on a report from last night that a subject had brandished a firearm in the village. One person has been detained. The details surrounding the deaths are unknown at this time. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is responding to Tanana to investigate the incident and surrounding circumstances of the Troopers deaths. Next of kin notification for the deceased is underway. We will provide more details as they become available.

UPDATE: Next of kin has been notified. The Troopers killed have been identified as Sergeant Patrick Scott Johnson and Trooper Gabriel Gabe Rich. Both were members of Fairbanks Rural Service Unit. No further information is available at this time.

DWLR

Police BlotterOn 05/01/2014 at approximately 2:19 p.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white 1996 Toyota Corolla for no headlights in the Safety Corridor on Parks Highway near Johnsons Road. Investigation revealed Carla Jester, age 32 of Houston, was driving while her license was revoked. Jester was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLR and release with a licensed driver.

Troopers seek information in Houston theft.

Police BlotterOn 4/29/2014 at 11:35 a.m., Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft of batteries from a residence on W. Woody Lakes Drive in Houston. Investigation revealed someone had stolen six automotive batteries from the yard sometime over the weekend. The batteries were valued at approximately $258. Anyone with information should contact the Alaska State Trooper at 745-2131.

Police BlotterOn 04/29/2014 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1993 Nissan Sentra for an equipment violation near the intersection of Pittman Road and Greenward Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Veronica V. Williamson, age 24 of Wasilla, was operating the vehicle while her license was revoked. Williamson was issued a criminal citation for Driving While License Revoked with a court date and released from the scene.

Criminal Mischief IV - DV

Police BlotterOn 04/28/2014, at approximately 12:41 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of mile 73 of the Parks Highway, in Willow. Investigation revealed Shane R. Johnson, age 22, of Willow, had damaged a vehicle while in an argument with another household member. Johnson was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree DV and transported to the Mat Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded without bail.

DV Assault 4th and DV Criminal Mischief 4th

Police BlotterOn 4/26/2014, approximately 2:10 a.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence located near mile 6.5 Knik Goose Bay Road for a reported disturbance in progress. Investigation revealed 22-year-old Sara L. Rathbone of Wasilla assaulted a family member by causing minor physical injuries and damaged the personal property of another estimated at $300. Rathbone was arrested without incident and remanded to MSPT where she was held without bail.

DUI, REDDI

Police BlotterOn 04-24-14, at 9:44 p.m., Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Saturn Ion on Pittman Rd at the Parks Hwy after it was called in as a REDDI for multiple moving violations. The driver was contacted and identified as Michael A. Jimenez, age 24, of Wasilla. An investigation revealed Jimenez was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest for DUI. Jimenez was then transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $500 bail.

Willow Man Arrested

Police BlotterOn 04/24/14 at approximately 9 p.m., AST responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence near mile post 85 of the Parks Highway in Willow. AST contacted Ryan Bentley, age 29 of Willow, during the incident. Investigation revealed Bentley had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear to a change of plea hearing for the original charges of DUI and Driving While License Revoked. Bentley was arrested for the warrant and transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where he was remanded into custody and held on $2,500 bail with a court approved third party condition.

Big Lake Man Arrested for Criminal Mischief IV, DV, Disorderly Conduct

Police BlotterOn 04/24/2014 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to Pilot Cir in Big Lake for a report of a disturbance. The victim stated the suspect, John Parker age 22 of Big Lake, intentionally damaged the property of a family member and left the residence while Troopers were responding. Troopers located Parker on Big Lake Road near Beaver Lake Road and Parker was intentionally jumping in front of vehicles. After a short foot pursuit, Parker was arrested without incident and remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

DWLS

Police BlotterOn 4/22/14 at approximately 1212 p.m. the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Mitsubishi for a failure to use headlights in a highway safety corridor. Investigation showed driver Angela Lindsey age 32 of Willow, had a suspended license. Lindsey was issued a criminal citation and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Improper Use of Registration

Police BlotterOn 4/18/2014 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Alaska State Troopers stopped a red 1989 Chevrolet pick-up truck on the Parks Highway near mile 51 (which is within the Parks Highway Safety Corridor) for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed Dusten Hayes, age 28 of Wasilla, was driving with improper vehicle registration. Hayes was issued a criminal citation to appear in court at a later date and released on scene.
